FUNBOX Dinosaur Safari – Review

There’s nothing quite like a family trip to the theatre. It’s some place I’ve loved taking my kids since they were very small, in the hope that one day they’ll grow into theatre fan girls, like their mum.

My favourite show to take them to, is always whatever FUNBOX production is currently running. We all adore their vibrant shows which are full of fun, songs, comedy capers and great big belly laughs (from the audience). This summer’s production Dinosaur Safari is no exception and had everyone clapping, singing and cheering along.

With a captivated audience filled with dinosaurs, cave people and little explorers, the dynamic trio Kevin, Anya and Gary and their beloved naughty dog Bonzo, did what they do best and entertained the socks off of everybody in the room.

As FUNBOX’s continue to tour Scotland this year with Dinosaur Safari and their other show, Rocking Over The World, it’s clear that it’s not just my children who love the awesome musical group.

The fact that they’re keeping Scottish traditional family songs alive, makes me exceptionally happy. There’s no chance of classics like Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff A Bus, dying on FUNBOX’s watch.

If you’re looking for a way to entertain the kids this summer, be sure to check out one of their shows for an afternoon filled with musical mayhem and fantastic fun. You won’t regret it.

Funbox Underwater Adventure

It doesn’t matter how many times I take my girls to see Funbox, it’s always an absolute pleasure. So when I found out that they were returning to Dundee, I knew we had to go.

This summer’s production, Underwater Adventure, sees the gang taking a voyage beneath the waves to the bottom of the ocean in a show that promised to be full of frolics and plenty of capers!! So how could we resist?

When we arrived at the theatre, it was already packed full of little mermaids and tiddlers who were hyped up and ready for the laughter and fun to begin. And they weren’t disappointed! As usual, the show included some new and very catchy tunes and some old classics such as My Father Went To Sea, Sea, Sea and The World Must Be Coming To An End – all of which were accompanied by some very funky dance moves which the children (and ahem… a few of the adults) copied with glee.

The show went down a treat with the whole audience adored Cha Cha Cha-ing along to the Funbox rhyme. As always the gang came offstage after the gig, ready to greet their fans. They are always so generous with their time posing for photographs and chatting with the kids, adding to the excitement of the day.

I can’t tell you how much I love taking my kids along to these shows. After seeing the Singing Kettle myself when I was a girl, I know how exciting a trip to the theatre can be for kids. When I take my girls along to see Funbox, I know that we’re not just having a good day out, we’re making memories that will last lifetime. So thank you Funbox. Keep up the good work!

Review: Funbox, Superheroes Show

super_centre_image1-730x453While I’d love to be all cool and pretend to be indifferent, I cannot lie – I am a huge Funbox fan. I love them because they are keeping all the traditional songs and silliness alive for my two girls. I love them because, when I tell my kids that we’re spending the afternoon in their company, they light up like little Christmas trees. But mostly I love Funbox because they are just really, really brilliant at what they do.

So it’s fair to say that we were all a little bit excited as we made our way to see their Superheroes show in Dundee’s Whitehall Theatre. When we arrived to a theatre packed with little superheroes, my little Supergirl and slightly bigger Animalgirl, were more than ready for the laughter and fun to commence. And it certainly did! As usual, the show included some new and very catchy tunes, some old classics like The Quartermasters Show and Little Bunny Fou Fou as well as lots and lots of laughs including a hilarious and slightly awkward incident when Kevin and Bonzo met for the first time!

As always the gang came offstage after the gig, ready to greet their fans. They are always so generous with their time posing for photographs and chatting with the kids, adding to the excitement of the day. As I watched my two girls cuddling Anya and giggling along with Gary and Kevin, I just knew that meeting the gang, was something that they’d always remember. Funbox have helped to create a special memory for my kids that will last a lifetime. And because of that, I’ll love them forever.
